5 yrs ago, on this very day, HK entertainment scene lost a brillant talent forever. Leslie Cheung committed sucide by jumping from the 24th floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. He left behind a note expressing his struggle with depression. He was 46 years old when he left this world.
I love watching Leslie's movie. He was a terrific actor. One of my favourite was Farewell My Concubine 霸王别姬. It was a masterpiece directed by Chen Kaige. Leslie acted as the Peking opera star Cheng Dieyi, an artist who reached fame with his exquisite performances of female roles. Leslie also sung the theme song, 當愛已成往事.
