A good deed, with savings!
Friday, December 19, 2008
ST Life! today carried a report that J.K Rowling's latest book has become the fastest selling title of the year, with more than 2.6 million copies sold worldwide in less than two weeks. The book is a charity book where the proceeds from sales of the book will go to a charity for vulnerable children in Eastern Europe. A total of s$9.3 million has been raised for the charity.
I'm glad I've played a small and insignificant part towards the sum raised for the charity. I bought the book at Heathrow Airport on my way back to Singapore. It costed just 6.99 pounds in London, which translates to about S$16.43. I was actually unsure if I wanted to get the book at first, but I did it anyway cos I though it would be a good read for my 13-hour flight. Well, it was a wise decision cos the book actually costed $19.26 in Singapore, which meant a saving of $2.83 for me! =)
For those who are into Harry Potter series, do consider getting The Tales of Beedle The Bard! It will be a continuation of the Harry Potter fantasy, and for a good cause! See it as doing a good deed in this Christmas season.
