Our eyes met for the shortest moment,

while our faces remained still for the longest time.

We tried to fathom what each other was thinking,

when the reality was we were merely second-guessing.

I lingered around hoping you would say hi,

and you stood still waiting for my hello.

Yet, neither of us spoke!

Our distance widened with every second of silence,

while our hearts yearned to be up close and personal.

We turned and headed towards different directions,

when all we wanted was to saunter together.

I asked myself why didn't I speak out,

and you wondered how things would be if you had uttered.

Yet, neither of us spoke!

Neither of us took the first step!
